Course structure

On the first day of the painting holidays, after you arrive from the airport you will be invited to rest a bit or to enjoy the house facilities. We will then welcome the group with an introductory talk over a glass of Cava and some snacks. You will then be served some exquisite food and will have to opportunity to get to know your fellow students and tutors.

On the following day after we have breakfast we will go to the studio to get started. All the equipment and materials supplied by us will be ready for every student to start their own paintings / drawings or watercolours. We will propose to the group to do drawing exercises of still life to cover all the basic elements of visual language such as composition, form, colour, light, perspective and texture. This exercise will help us to understand each student’s talents, and enable us to set a plan for the week to ensure everyone knows what to expect by the end of the course. Tuition is not compulsory and students who wish to engage in their own projects are welcome. The morning classes will be about 2 hours, however students can stay as long as they like with their creative process. Lunch will be served at 1pm with a selection of different dishes in an informal buffet.

After lunch there is some free time where students can enjoy a bit of Spanish siesta, the pool, some walks or to paint.

The afternoon class will be 2-3 hours where students will continue with the morning work receiving individual tuition. The class will finish with some drinks before dinner.

Supper, which is served at 7pm, will be a wonderful occasion to talk about the progress of the course and the experiences of the day over some delicious cold and hot traditional dishes.

In the following days students who wish to further their study of elements of visual language through drawing will receive plenty of tuitions in a small group and the other students who wish to do their own subjects will receive individual attention to progress in their learning process. A day of the week will be set for a group field trip to conduct sketches and to discover hidden corners of the wonderful surroundings.

The last day of the painting holidays, after breakfast students will be transferred to Madrid to make their way home.
